My Journey
Hello I'm Hannah and I'm a yoga teacher, meditation guide, mental health therapist and shamanic reiki healer based in Worthing, West Sussex.
As a working mummy to two beautiful children, I understand how busy life can be and how challenging it is to find space for oneself. Through my yoga practice and the journey of motherhood I have come to realise that space to relax, restore and nurture oneself is not a luxury but essential for wellbeing. In order to meet our various responsibilities and be there for our loved ones, we really need to take care of ourselves.
My journey into heart centred living has been learning to connect with my heart, listen to my own inner guidance system and following this heart centred wisdom to live in a more joyful and wholehearted way. For me, this has also been a process of embracing my sensitivity and discovering my own unique gifts so that I can support others in their healing journey.
"The journey into heart centred living is the journey of life, the journey of healing, and the journey back to wholeness. It is the journey into the centre of our being, the journey to know ourselves. It is the journey of opening up, feeling, accepting, releasing, connecting, expressing, realising and awakening. The journey into heart centred living is the journey of yoga, the journey back to ourselves, and back to nature. This is the journey through the chakras, the journey to freedom, the journey of love; and the journey of the heart."
Hannah, Heart Centred Living
There are so many simple and beautiful ways to connect with our hearts but for me some of the most powerful are through yoga practice, meditation, breathwork, dancing, being in nature, paddle boarding in the sea and playing with my children. These all literally make my heart sing!
Doing what we love is such a powerful heart centred practice as it nourishes and naturally opens our hearts so that we may experience life more deeply through simply being present. This open-hearted awareness allows us to feel more connected, more joyful and more able to be ourselves. I strongly believe that this heart centred energy has a powerful ripple effect which can be felt by our loved ones, our communities, and the planet as a whole.
Honouring Mother Nature's rhythms, by tuning into the energy of the seasons and the cycles of the moon, are some of my other favourite heart centred practices and sources of inspiration. I have been vegetarian for many years and became fully plant-based in January 2018. In recent years I have discovered more about the amazing healing effects of Mother Nature, not just in how deeply calming and restorative it is to simply be in her soothing presence, but also through foraging and making my own herbal medicines. This is something I enjoy sharing with my children.
Heart centred living is just that; a way of living from the heart. So weaving heart centred practices into our daily life is an essential part of the process of inner transformation which brings powerful shifts in our outer world.
Supporting others on their journey of healing is my true vocation and life’s purpose. I am a yoga teacher but I am also a qualified occupational therapist and have worked as a mental health practitioner in the NHS for nearly 20 years. I specialise in working with people who experience complex emotional and physical health difficulties, often as a result of complex trauma.
This work has given me a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and highlighted the importance of integrated approaches to healing. It has also inspired me to look deeper into what it means to heal on physical, mental and emotional levels in order to return to our natural state of wellbeing. Trauma, stress and emotional pain are held within the body, mind and heart, often unconsciously, and so true healing must look to reintegrate these aspects of our being so that we may restore our fundamental wholeness and be able to live wholehearted lives.
Discovering yoga and other heart centred practices has been life-changing for me in the most beautiful way possible. Initially I followed my heart and trained as a yoga teacher and this led me to discover the endless possibilities that arise by being open and true. Awakening the incredible potential which exists within all of us begins when you tune in to your heart.
My yoga practice is still my daily gift to myself; a way of creating space within a busy mind and a busy life. No matter what might be going on in the world outside or however I'm feeling within myself, I find myself on my mat.
I would love to support you on your own journey, living from your heart.
